Since I'm just starting out on my own food blogging journey, I thought it only appropriate to share a list of my favorite blogs and websites run by other chefs. You're sure to find something you like from this eclectic mix of styles, tastes, and attitudes.
1. The Guardian's Word of Mouth Blog
Beautiful photographs, interesting recipes, and opinions from all over the spectrum are standard at the Guardian's food blog. I get inspired by this site more than any other single source.
2. Dining with James
James Isherwood isn't a chef, but his blog Dining with James is stuffed with reviews of restaurants, dishes, chefs, and just about anything else you can think of in the world of food. I love that James doesn't hold back and is more than willing to give a chef or a restaurant a poor review if they deserve it.
3. Diet Chef & Weight Loss Blog
As I've mentioned before, I'm very careful about what I eat and watching my weight. This blog offers healthy versions of classic dishes, suggests ways to make your food a little healthier, and does it all with style.
4. St. Mellion Chef's Blog
I like this blog mostly because it's regularly-updated, so I can always look forward to something new. The design could use a little work - it's hard on the eyes, to be honest - but the content is solid.
5. Gizzi's Blog
If you can get past the gaudy color scheme and ugly layout, the content at Gizzi's blog is usually fun to read, informative, and I always appreciate a blogger that writes often, which Gizzi does. Sure, sometimes it's a bit too casual, and the typos and grammatical errors are a bit too common, but you can't deny the value of the food wisdom she brings to the table.
6. The Bollo Chef's Blog
Another restaurant-associated chef's blog, The Bollo offers gastropub menu ideas along with common-sense solutions for common kitchen and service problems. A great industry blog that's (unfortunately) not updated often enough.
7. Wannabe TV Chef
An insane volume of recipes, notes on restaurants and ingredients, and hilarious personal stories and anecdotes await you at the Wannabe TV Chef's blog. Beware, though . . . it's more than a little addictive.
